The Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association is seeking support from community businesses who share a vision of cultural diversity. It is dedicated to preserving the past for the future good of all people.
Our Cultural Heritage Department provides programs that encourage the Aleut culture to flourish through projects in language preservation, historic preservation, oral history documentation, repatriation, culture camps, and publication of books and language learning materials.

ALEUTIAN PRIBILOF COMMUNITY DONATIONS
The Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association, Inc. (APIA) is the regional, non-profit organization serving the Aleutian/Pribilof Islands Region of Alaska. APIA is the federally recognized regional tribal organization of Alaska’s Aleut population. It was organized under state regulations as a nonprofit corporation and received 501(c)(3) tax exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service in 1976 with the merger of two predecessor organizations: The Aleut League, formed in 1966, and The Aleutian Planning Commission, formed a few years later.
APIA provides cultural, health, human and community services on behalf of and to over 3,000 individuals residing in the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Region. APIA has a 13 member Board of Directors, one member from each tribe: Akutan Tribe; Atka Tribe; Belkofski Tribe; False Pass Tribe; Agdaagux Tribe of King Cove; Nelson Lagoon Tribe; Nikolski Tribe; Tribal Government of Pauloff Harbor; Qagan Tayagungin Tribe of Sand Point; St. George Tribe; Tribal Government of St. Paul; Qawalangin Tribe; and the Unga Tribe; and serves the residents of 10 specific communities as well as other residents of the entire region. The Board of Directors, through President/CEO Dimitri Philemonof, oversees the Association’s operations.
Our Mission is to promote self-sufficiency through advocacy, training, technical assistance, and economic enhancement; to assist in meeting the health, safety, and well-being of each Unangan Community; to promote, strengthen, and ensure the unity of the Unangan; and, to strengthen and preserve Unangan cultural heritage.
