Community Health Aide (CHA) - Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position in St. George Island. Will provide direct therapeutic and diagnostic patient care, health promotion, disease prevention and clinic administration. Must be able to travel for CHA training sessions one to two times per year for six weeks each session to increase CHA skill levels toward certification.

Qualifications - Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. Interested in providing health care to the “people of the village.” Will be a resident of the village or interested in relocating to the village. Must be 18 years of age or older, unless there is evidence of extraordinary maturity, with a caring attitude and other good humane qualities. As much as possible and practicable, must meet the following education requirements: Eighth grade education; Basic arithmetic skills, including decimals; Sixth grade English reading level as a minimum. Agree to complete all training requirements for Community Health Practitioner (CHP) certification within three years from the date of employment. The applicant must agree to travel to Anchorage or other designated places for training. Training sessions usually last one to four weeks at a time. Ability to communicate in English and in the local Native language prevalent in the village. Ability to prepare and present effective oral and/or written reports in required format. Willingness and means to travel and have a valid Alaska Drivers License. Willing to take training and attend workshops and meetings periodically to enhance job performance and knowledge. Native preference will be given to qualified applicant pursuant to P.L. 93-638. - Salary DOE + benefits.

Employment, Training & Related Services (ETR) Case Manager - Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position in Anchorage. This person will deliver services by providing and assisting with comprehensive client services, case histories, planning, assessments and evaluations, and job placement services, and will maintain a case load. Case Manager will conduct intake, determine eligibility and write Employment Plans for clients, facilitate case reviews and employment counseling. The Case Manager must be able to work in a high-stress environment and must be able to handle people in crisis. This position will need to provide culturally appropriate case management services to participants with an anticipated outcome of clients becoming self-sufficient.

Qualifications - Preferred: Master’s degree in Social Service, Human Services or related field or the equivalent from an accredited college; and at least two years of Case Management experience. Minimal: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Service, Human Services or related field or the equivalent from an accredited college; and at least four years of Case Management experience working with a non-profit organization. - Rate of pay beginning at $24.05 per hour. Family Program’s Division Coordinator - Full-time (37.5) position in Anchorage. Provide oversight and management of the planning, coordination and implementation of the following programs in the Family Program’s division: Indian Child Welfare, IV-D Child Support Program and any other programs that are housed in the Family Programs Division. The person appointed to this position must exemplify all the core competencies expected of a division coordinator including being a leader of change, being a leader of people, being results oriented, possessing good business acumen, and being able to build coalitions and communicate effectively with all others.

Qualifications - Preferred: 1. Masters degree in Social Science or a closely related field of study from an accredited college or university; and 2. 2 years working in personnel management, budget management, administration of state, federal and/or private funding sources and experience as an educator, trainer, staff development specialist, or a manager in a Social and Human Services agency and/or Tribal organization. Minimum: 1. Bachelors degree with five years experience; and 2. Knowledgeable about: Child Welfare; Family Preservation; Foster Care; Adoption; Judicial systems, jurisdiction, and local, state and tribal governments; Court documentation, and Tribal Child Support; and 3. Ability to effectively, tactfully and cooperatively interact with tribal administrators, board members, executives, managers, professional and clerical employees; communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; work independently under limited direction; think strategically and create an education and training program that has internal and external presence integral to the Family Programs division recruitment and retention efforts; organize work, set priorities and meet critical deadlines; provide direction to and coordinate the work of consultants as well as professional, technical and clerical staff; ability to manage automated education/training tracking software programs; and 4. Experience in grant writing and outcome based reporting; and 5. Knowledge of Alaska Native and American Indian culture and/or community resources. Be able to interact positively with individuals from various backgrounds, particularly American Indians/Alaska Native clients; and 6. Consideration will be given to applicant with extensive work experience and in the process of obtaining a BA in required field of study. - Rate of pay - DOE. .

Head Start Teacher Aide/Cook - On-Call position in St. Paul Island. Will perform the duties of the Head Start Teacher Aide, including: assist APIA Head Start Teacher as requested to implement daily lesson plans; preparation and clean-up of the activities, special projects, etc.; teach children appropriate health, dental, and other lessons as directed by the Lead Teacher; provide opportunities for children to develop self-mastery skills; provide safe environment for children by supervising them at all times, indoors and out; and use of appropriate discipline/guidance techniques, including redirection, acknowledgment of appropriate behavior, and setting reasonable limits. Maintain paperwork and files; conduct home visit/parent/teacher conferences. Prepare meals and snacks, 4 days a week, following the Child and Adult Care Food Program meal pattern requirements. Shop at local grocery store weekly. Plan for nutrition learning experiences for children. Clean and sanitize all kitchen and dining areas, dishes, pots, pans and utensils used in meal service. Teach children how to prepare for breakfast and lunch, wash their hands and st the table. Follow the all applicable regulations for safe storage of refrigerated, frozen, and dry food. Keep accurate inventory records. Calculate food consumption and request approval for food purchases and follow APIA policy regarding purchase orders.

Qualifications - At least 19 years of age with a high school diploma/GED; one year of experience working with groups of children as a child care provider in home/center and/or volunteering in a Head Start program is preferred; physically/mentally able to work with young children and their families; and the willingness to be trained in the field of early childhood development and to engage in appropriate topical reading and individual work. Willing to achieve a Child Development Associate (CDA) preschool teaching credential within 2 years of hire and to be trained nutrition and food service production sponsored by Head Start. Mid-Level Provider - Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position in Unalaska/Dutch Habor. The position provides primary care, walk-in urgent care, and emergency services (provide consultation and collaboration to the Community Health Aide/Practitioners who take call 24 hours per day). The Mid-Level Practitioner provides the various categories of care as noted above, making independent clinical decisions with consultation and collaboration with physicians from the Southcentral Foundation (SCF) and/or Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC).

Mid-Level Provider - Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position in St. Paul Island. Duties include primary care, walk-in urgent care, and emergency services; treatment and management of diabetes a plus. Must have the ability to make independent clinical decisions and work in a team setting in collaboration with referral physicians and onsite Community Health Aide/Practitioners. Sub-regional travel to other APIA clinics based on need or request. Minimum experience 2-3 years in a remote clinical setting to include emergency care services and supervisory experience. Indian Health Service experience a plus. Will be credentialed through Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium.

Qualifications - Graduate of an accredited ANP or FNP, or PA-C practitioner program. Requires a registration/license to practice in the State of Alaska. Credentialing process to practice required. Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements. Three to five years experience (two years of supervision preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Ability to perform medical examinations using standard medical procedures. Knowledge of patient care charging to include “superbill” coding, patient histories, clinical operations and procedures, primary care principles and practices. Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and patient progress. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Up-to-date CPR and ACLS certifications. Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindictions, dosing, side effects, at proper administrations. Knowledge of emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise. Ability to clearly communicate medical information to professional practitioners and the general public. Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards. Ability to self-manage assigned patient caseload, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling appointments, services, and work assignments.
